Man Importers Ireland Ltd
Case Study: Energy Audit
The Client
MAN Importers Ireland Limited is the exclusive distributor of MAN commercial vehicles in Ireland. The premises includes warehousing, a workshop and office space to support the sales, spare parts and service facilities.
MAN Importers Ireland Limited is a member of the OHM Group, whose activities include the importation, distribution and retail of cars and commercial vehicles.
The Challenge
The company’s main priority was to reduce energy costs at their premises. They required a clear and prioritised action plan on how to cost-effectively reduce energy consumption. This meant all recommendations had to be clearly set-out and feasible for the company to implement over the short term.
The Solution
Greenstreets conducted an energy audit at MAN Importers Ireland Ltd’s premises which included the warehouse, workshop, office as well as outdoor security lighting. The objective was to identify areas of high or inefficient energy use, which would yield the greatest potential for cost savings. The audit was facilitated by Greenstreets’ in-house energy auditing software.
The audit recommendations primarily focussed on changes to lighting and space heating. This included both improvements to the control of equipment already in-situ together with installation of new more efficient technology. The recommendations could be introduced gradually allowing the savings from each phase to be ring-fenced to support subsequent investments.
The audit resulted in the following outcomes:
- 30% energy savings, with a payback of 19 months
- A list of recommendations with clearly defined investments and payback.
- A phased implementation plan outlining how to reduce energy costs without undue upfront capital investment
- An update on energy-related grant schemes and other financial incentives
- A high level review of the company’s carbon footprint
